PLANS to rebuild the town's controversial skatepark must be approved by planning chiefs before teenagers can use the facility.
Last week, we revealed that ramps at Droitwich Spa Adventure Playground could be back in use by the summer, thanks to Droitwich Spa Town Council.
The authority promised the final £7,000 needed for the £14,000 project.
Manager at the King George Playing Fields centre Dave Spicer is delighted with the cash boost but said it will be some time before the attraction opens.
Dave was unaware that planning permission would need to be sought from Wychavon District Council for the amenity. He is now preparing an application.
The playground has remnants of the original facility, removed from the Lido Park by councillors in 1999.
Dave said: "It's great that we now have money for the project but there's a lot to be done. We must get planning consent and I need to find contractors to carry out the work at a reasonable price."
Dave wants a new hard surface laid down at the outside playground.
He added: "The ramps have been stored outside and need renovation.
"Our hard work is worthwhile because once we're up and running I expect to have between 40 and 50 regulars using the facility."
The centre is desperate for volunteers. If you can help, call Dave on (01905) 795487.
