TABLE TENNIS: William Pritchard won the handicap singles over Tom McDermott in Kidderminster Table Tennis League's 59th finals night at Kidderminster Harriers Social Club.
Pritchard triumphed 21-18, 21-11 in the clash of two of the most improved players which was witnessed by guest of honour Hugh Morgan who has been involved with the league for 25 years.
Dave Kelly and Eric Hardman were victorious in the veterans doubles, winning 21-13, 20-22, 22-20 against Dave Bennett and Steve Dorrell.
McDermott made his second appearance of the evening where he faced John Thomson in the restricted singles.
Again McDermott fought hard but could not prevent a Thomson victory 21-17, 21-15.
Pritchard was not able to do the double as reigning champion Chris Webb won the junior singles, gaining the deciding set 21-8.
Dorrell and Hardman faced each other again, without their partners, in the veterans singles which Hardman won 21-19, 21-13.
McDermott's third attempt at a title was when he partnered Kendall Smith in the Mixed Doubles and this time he was successful.
Alison Rathbone and Simon Webb took the first set 21-16 and at 20-20 in the second things looked bleak for McDermott and Smith.
But they fought back to win the set and take the third as well.
Dorrell also made a third appearance, with Paul Garner in the open doubles, against Gary Jones and Martin Madkins. Dorrell and Garner won 21-15, 21-16.
The final event was the open singles between Hardman and Andrew Barlow, both in the event for the first time. Hardman won 21-13 and 21-9.
