GOLF: Daniel Clee and James Ward, of Wharton Park Golf Club, have qualified from the Midland round to take part in the Maxfli PGA Assistants' Championships near Blackpool in September.
Clee came joint fourth on 69 points, three adrift of the joint winners, Tony Gascoigne of Maxstoke Park and Craig Swinburn from Nottinghamshire. Ward was joint 11th on 71 points.
The top 17 qualified for Blackpool where they will compete in a 72-hole competition hoping to pick up the winning prize of £4,000.
An invitation to play in the America's Assistants' Championship in Florida is also on offer.
