A REDDITCH band which recently toured with Midlands group Ocean Colour Scene is continuing to ride the wave of success by playing at Ronnie Scott's in Birmingham next week.
Four-piece indie/rock band Late is made up of singer and rhythm guitarist Dan Sealey, guitarist Paul McCormack, bassist Greg Young and drummer Ted Atkinson who will be performing live at the Broad Street venue on Tuesday, May 29 from 7.30pm.
It will be second time around for Late, who were due to play at Ronnie Scott's in September last year as part of the Birmingham Arts Festival, but the gig was cancelled.
Instead, Late performed in place of a dance troupe at Centenary Square where they were spotted by Redditch-based company Resurrection Sound.
This led to the band playing four high profile supports with OCS, including Birmingham Academy, in front of nearly 3,000 people and it is now anticipated a record deal will be clinched soon.
Resurrection Sound is a Bromsgrove Road internet company involved with distributing digital music online and signing up-and-coming bands such as Late.
Company director Stephen Davies said: "Resurrection Sound is committed to spearheading new talent and nurturing latent potential in un-established acts.
"We do not intend to operate as an 'unsigned bands' site and to this end we have signed a number of acts through our own distribution network, providing resources and conventional marketing techniques in an unconventional method, putting our money where our mouth is.
"Late are already breaking down industry barriers with their approach to gaining recognition.
"Already following in the steps of Toploader and Coldplay, Late have recently played support on a UK tour with fellow Midlands band Ocean Colour Scene."
Band manager Dave Sealey said: "The idea for this particular gig is, in connection with Resurrection Sound, to raise Late's profile further following the successful Ocean Colour Scene tour.
"The tour has opened the door for them and the point now is to highlight the fact that the band are breaking through.
"We hope the exposure will turn into a record deal, probably by summer."
