A CHARITY ball in memory of a town schoolboy killed by cancer has been cancelled.
Party-goers were due to raise cash for Alistair's Appeal at the Chateau Impney, in Droit-wich, on Friday July 6.
But ticket sales have been poor and his parents, Debi and Nigel Wainwright, have axed the event.
The caring couple, of Charles Dickens Close, want to collect £25,000 for brain tumour research.
Six-year-old Alistair had his life cut short by a brain tumour last year.
Nigel said: "We decided at the weekend that we could not host the summer ball.
"Although there was interest in the event, we could not sell enough tickets to cover our costs and make a profit.
"It's very sad but we plan to continue our fundraising campaign and we already have a jumble sale planned in July."
