AMBITIOUS candidates vying for Worcestershire County Council seats are out to impress Spa voters who hold the key to their success.
The nomination period for hopefuls is over and now the hard work begins for those who want to play a part in running the county.
Two long-standing Spa politicians are going head-to-head for the Droitwich Town seat.
Former mayor Don Lawley (Con, Droit.South) and fellow Droitwich Spa town councillor Peter Pinfield (Lab, Droit.West) are competing for the post currently held by Cllr Pinfield.
Four contenders will battle it out for the Droitwich South area.
Town council leader Cllr Pam Davey (Con, Droit.South) is the current representative and she must fend off competition from independent Ronald Waters, Labour's Bill Baker and Liberal Democrat David Barwick.
Droitwich Rural standing representative Maurice Broomfield (Con) is contending with former Droitwich mayor Graham Gopsill (Lib Dem) and Labour candidate John Wrenn.
The Bowbrook division is currently represented by Conservative Edward Sheldon who plans to stand again.
He will compete with Labour's Steven Westwood and Liberal Democrat Margaret Rowley.
Candidates will be canvassing around the town in the coming weeks.
Residents head for the polls on June 7, the same day as the General Election, and the results will be revealed the following day.
