TWO school governors from Droitwich Spa have gained a nationally recognised qualification for their voluntary work.
The representatives were selected to take part in the new scheme launched by Worcestershire County Council and Worcester College of Technology.
St Peter's First School governor Jane McHugh and chairman of Chawson First School governors Lynda Steele were among 18 people who began the course in July last year.
The hard-working pair are the first in the county to scoop the new BTEC qualification in school governance.
Lynda said: "It was an extremely interesting course which involved looking in depth at the various areas we deal with such as staffing, budgets, communications, support and management.
"Until doing this course we did not realise how much time we spend on being a governor.
"It's good to have that time acknowledged by a nationally recognised qualification."
