TWO large election posters placed on wooden frames by the Conservative Party at Norton Farm, in Birmingham Road, Bromsgrove, were destroyed by vandals on Sunday night.
Similar posters have been put on private land at all main road approaches to the town.
Their appearance prompted some people to contact the town's Labour Party to ask if their size contravened planning regulations.
No blame has been attached to anyone or to any group and police have been informed, but Tory General Election candidate Julie Kirkbride on Monday called on Labour to condemn the vandals.
Labour candidate Peter McDonald's agent, Sean Shannon, said a senior planning officer with Birmingham City Council had informed them they were too large but Bromsgrove District Council disagreed.
He added: "We are now waiting for written confirmation from Bromsgrove council.
"Labour condemns any sort of vandalism and I'm 100 per cent sure it was not the work of Labour Party members.
"We pay to use legitimate advertising hoardings which do not need planning permission to get our message across."
