AT 1.30pm on Sunday, the members of the Redditch Fire Brigade were summoned to a fire at 24 Edward Street and in less than five minutes after the alarm had been given, the brigade appeared on the scene.
The building is the property of Messrs Mitchell and Butler, brewers, and is licensed as an out-of door-beer house.
It was found that the bedroom door was on fire. After working for about half an hour, the brigade succeeded in extinguishing the fire and returned home to dinner.
A considerable amount of damage was done to the stock-in-trade and the real cause of the fire is not yet known.
