DEADLY weedkiller containing paraquat poison is once again being used on Redditch New Town estates.
After a Matchborough residents pointed out to the Indicator the renewed use of the poison, the Redditch Development Corporation confirmed it was once again using Gramoxone weedkiller - but this time with warning notices.
The scare arose in February last year when a dog which had walked through an area sprayed with the paraquat-based weedkiller collapsed and swelled up.
After rumours that other dogs had been affected, the development corporation promised to look into the question of providing warning signs.
A spokesman said: "Gramoxone weedkiller containing paraquat is being used for weed clearance on the Matchborough estate.
"Warning signs are put up nearby and stay there for 12 hours - which is the length of time taken for Gramoxone to be absorbed into the soil."
