STAFF at one of Bromsgrove's largest employers are being kept in the dark over rumours the firm may be taken over by a giant India company, it was claimed yesterday.
Peter McDonald, Bromsgrove's Lab-our candidate in the forthcoming General Election, spoke out after union leaders representing 600 workers at United Engineering Forgings (UEF) at Aston Fields held talks yesterday with David Lock who is fighting the Wyre Forest constituency for Labour.
UEF employ 200 staff at its Kidderminster plant.
Mr McDonald was unable to attend the meeting.
He said later staff are worried about their jobs amid rumours that the Bharat group with buy out UEF and switch production to India. UEF in Bromsgrove nor its parent company in London would comment as we went to press.
