PRESIDENT Elizabeth Ostroumoff welcomed members to the May meeting, which was purely business.
Rosemary Reeves lit the candle of friendship for the Inner Wheel Club of Monza in Italy.
In the absence of the overseas chairman, it was reported the aqua box was now fully equipped and ready for despatch. Georgina would report on her return from its destination.
A backstage visit to Stratford Theatre will take place this month.
Honorary membership had been discussed and it was agreed to invite Patsy Huins, Joan Manning, Janice Shields and Margaret Toole. All had agreed to serve for the year.
Disposal of the charity money was discussed at great length. It was decided that as the association's national appeal was for beast cancer, the majority should go to the local appeal by the League of Friends. Four other appeals were considered and the secretary would get further information.
Liz then told members she would not be present next month, she would be in the Czech Republic and this being the case, she wished to read her valedictory report.
She thanked members and her officers for their loyal support. She particularly mentioned the coverage she and the club had enjoyed through the publishing of the monthly reports by local newspapers. She was sure the co-operation received had helped the public to appreciate the aims of Inner Wheel. She wished her successor, Val Pickering, a very happy second term as president.
