THE future of Stoke Prior Sports and Social Club still hangs in the balance as a special sub-committee has been set up to investigate the options.
Set in the village's Westonhall Road, the venue, which is used by a variety of sporting and leisure clubs throughout Bromsgrove, faces closure because of dwindling membership and funds.
Emergency talks were held last Thursday, May 17, at the club and a group was elected to look into the financial aspects of the club and work with accountants to come up with a plan of action.
A further meeting will be held next month to discuss what can be done to save the club which boasts the only active crown bowling green in Worcestershire.
A date has not yet been set.
Bromsgrove District Council has also offered a glimmer of hope.
Council leader Cllr Nick Psirides (Con, Norton) said after the next meeting the authority would see if it could help in any way.
Chairman Mandy Louch said: "We're all pulling together to see if we can make the club work."
