Littleton 0, Bishampton 2
LITTLETON'S last home game of the season ended just like their first in defeat, when they went down 2-0 to old friends Bishampton.
This defeat ended a run of 13 straight wins in which they had scored 58 goals and conceded just 12 as they strolled towards the Worcester League Premier Division title.
How they could have done with some of those surplus goals in this game.
They did create several chances but Bishampton's keeper Rob Bille who previously played for Littleton, was in outstanding form.
Littleton attacked from the start and went close after five minutes when a Des Cox header went just wide. The same player then beat two defenders only to have his shot smothered by Bille.
As often happens, however, a side under pressure often breaks away and scores, and this Bishampton did after 40 minutes.
A long ball over the Littleton defence was seized on by David Wright who scored in fine style from 20 yards.
The second half followed a similar pattern with Littleton having the bulk of the play and creating chances without being able to score.
It was left to Andrew Murphy to wrap the game up for Bishampton when he collected a clearance from Littleton's defence and found the net from the edge of the box.
Littleton, who also won the Baylis Cup, finish their fixtures, and life in the county league, at Kempsey on Saturday. The Midland Combination awaits next season.
Last weekend's game was sponsored by The Ivy Inn, North Littleton.
