CONSERVATIVE defence spokesman Iain Duncan-Smith made his second visit to Wyre Forest in less than six months when he met veterans from ex-service organisations in Stourport.
The Shadow Secretary of State for Defence joined Wyre Forest Conservative parliamentary candidate Mark Simpson on a visit to the Royal British Legion, Severn Road, and discussed issues ranging from welfare and pensions to Territorial Army numbers. Mr Simpson, who is a member of Stourport RBL as a former ex-Gordon Highlander, said: "Iain Duncan-Smith had been extremely impressed with what he'd seen during his previous visit to the TA in Kidderminster and made a particular request to return to Wyre Forest during the General Election.
"Labour has cut the defence budget and reduced army numbers, but we particularly wanted Mr Duncan-Smith to meet the ex-services because they have particular issues they want addressed and I feel they don't often get the chance."
