TEN members braved the searing heat for Sunday's penultimate round of the Spring season on the Match Lake at Lemington Lakes.
Barry Castle battled his way to victory after an energy sapping tussle with a carp to land a total of 6.1.0 to beat off the challenge of Wayne Panting (3.15.8).
Roy Thompson was third with a reduced final tally of 0.14.0.
Members who have booked in for this weekend's match at Broad Acres are asked to meet at the old Post Office, High Street at 7.15am on Sunday.
Evesham DAA
ENGLAND international, Mark Pollard, gave an interesting talk on the controversial subject of bloodworm and joker baits at the presentation night at the Servicemen's Club.
Officers, however, were disappointed with the attendance despite it being up on last year's turnout.
Bait Box AC and Jubilee AS took the majority of the awards with Offenham AC collecting the Knockout Cup and Servicemen's AC member, Steve Pallet, being crowned overall champion.
Secretaries of member clubs are reminded that their requirements for season cards for all ages should be placed as soon as possible with the treasurer. Monies due on issue of cards.
Entries for the Summer League, teams of four, should be sent to match secretary, Howard Norledge. The first match of five will take place on the first Wed-nesday of the season.

M & M Worms/Evesham Youth AC
BOAT traffic on the Grand Union Canal kept weights low on the final round of the Rob Tingle Canal Series.
Andrew Beasley came out on top with 5.5.0 of bream and bits on maggot. Second place fell to Dave Smith with 0.10.0 from Matthew Smith (0.3.8).
Leading positions: 1 Matthew Smith 108pts; 2 Andrew Beasley 100; 3 Jon Baguley 78.
On the penultimate round of the Townsend Still Water series, Beasley had it all his own way with 9.8.0 from Jon Baguley (1.12.0) and Jon Tingle (0.5.0)
Baguley takes the overall lead with 70 points from Dave Jones and Beasley, both on 69.
The final round will be on June 3 at Rissington Road.
The AGM will take place on June 11, 7.30pm for 8pm at the Crown Inn, Waterside.
