JOHN Hinton's praise of American servicemen in wartime Britain knows no bounds (You Say, April 27).
His letter alleged that the Rev D G Griffin's outburst on American propaganda was un-Christian, while it described the American servicemen's effect on the British women as some innocent tea party.
I don't suppose American servicemen sought out any favours from the British women, in return for their friendly, kindly and generous ways.
Of course, the other side of his scenario is of a British serviceman coming home for a few days leave from the war front only to find his wife or sweetheart being entertained by a lovesick Yank.
