I'M not happy with the attitude taken by Health Concern, who seem to have done a u-turn about Kidderminster hospital.

The hospital should have all the resources that it had three years ago, before the downgrading took place. It needs a full accident and emergency unit and 24-hour medical cover. I would lobby the Government, which has plenty of money to spend, to pay for the changes.

I DON'T want an incinerator in Kidderminster or in Stourport-on-Severn, because I'm worried about fumes affecting residents. Traffic is another problem you get with these plants. Recycling ought to be improved in Worcestershire instead of incinerating, although it seems to be a lost cause at the moment.

UNDER-funding of our schools has been a problem for years, as I know from my time on the county council. It would be a simple matter to change the funding system to benefit Worcestershire and other shire counties that suffer. I would go in person to lobby Ministers, but it's something that must have cross-party support. All the MPs in the county must work together to put pressure on the Government.

THE current system of drug enforcement isn't working, and it's time to think differently. I believe addicts who use drugs like heroin need treatment and more money should be allocated for this. I think we should be looking at something compulsory, because otherwise they won't necessarily accept treatment. But cannabis is different - about half of all age groups and classes seem to use it. The police shouldn't be spending their time arresting cannabis users. We could legalise it and sell it in certified shops, with pharmacists checking it for purity.

I AM in favour of a 20mph speed limit for all residential roads. Another thing I'd campaign for is a fresh end-to-end survey of the A449, to look at areas where new measures are needed. I would work with the county council on these matters, but the police also need to enforce speed limits. For example, the 30mph limit at Wilden Lane in Stourport is disregarded all the time and yet I've not seen a police car there in five years. Things can change. Blakedown's better these days since safety improvements were put in place.
