BEN Hanbury goes for Classic glory in the Irish 1000 Guineas with Mugharreb tomorrow but he will also have one eye on a valuable prize at Haydock.
Alnahaam represents the trainer in the £60,000 Tote Credit Club Silver Bowl (Showcase Handicap) at the Merseyside track.
A lightly-raced son of Hamas, the three-year-old made a winning reappearance this season at Doncaster where he broke his duck in the 'Unicyclist' Maiden Stakes.
Gary Carter set out to make all on Alnahaam, who had been very coltish in the parade ring, and his mount stuck to his guns in determined fashion although he tended to wander under pressure.
Alnahaam still looks open to a deal of improvement and can make further progress here.
Mark Tompkins' Volata was far from disgraced in the Sagitta 2000 Guineas and looks an interesting runner in the Weatherbys General Stud Book Vol 44 Rated Stakes.
That Newmarket run was only the third of Volata's life and he showed plenty of speed to race just behind the leaders until he was badly hampered at a crucial stage.
He finished only eight and a half lengths behind winner Golan, who is nowred-hot favourite for the Vodafone Derby.
Volata faded only in the final two furlongs and this drop back to six furlongs could prove ideal.
As has been the case in recent years, the sprint division lacks a stand-out performer and Volata could be a fair bet to fill that gap.
Tim Easterby's string are running into form and Chantilly Myth can give him another winner in the EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes.
She went down by a neck and a short head to Madame Boulangere and Ristra at York earlier this month in a useful-looking maiden.
Easterby's filly should have plenty of improvement in her and will have come on a good deal for the experience.
Dandoun looks a smart prospect in the making for John Dunlop and he should take all the beating in the Heron Stakes at Kempton.
He landed the Wood Ditton at Newmarket in good style on his debut, beating Potemkin from the Richard Hannon stable.
Potemkin has advertised the form with an easy victory and a fine second in the Glasgow Stakes since.
Dandoun himself has recorded another win, accounting for Henry Cecil's well-regarded Aldebaran at Doncaster.
He quickened well that day and ran on very strongly and it would be no surprise if he proved much better than Listed class as the season progresses.
