THE Green 1st XI were involved in a draw on Saturday when they entertained Belbroughton at North End Lane in a Worcestershire League Division Two game.
BARNARDS GREEN v BELBROUGHTON
Winning the toss the Green put the visitors into bat on a damp wicket. They lost Gillis early on to the bowling of Tim Williams when Ian Scullion had Hayward smartly caught by Glendenning behind. Things looked good for the Green but Kings (66) and Carson (60no) put on 90 runs to put them in control. At close Belbroughton were 176-3 off their 50 overs.
All the Green bowlers bowled well, Scullion 1-46 off 11 overs and Tim Clarke 0-18 off 8 overs kept things tight at the start but David Creese who bowled 14 overs for 42 runs and a good display of off-spin from Tom Harvey 1-36 off 12 overs did the majority of bowling between them at the end.
The Green made a solid start with Harvey (45) and James Marriot (10) put on 23 in quick time. But when Marriot was dismissed by Hawk wickets again fell at regular intervals only Tim Clarke (14) looked set but then fell to Hawk.
At close it was left to Tim Williams (8no) and David Creese (7no) to bat out the last 12 overs to claim a losing draw.
At close the Green were 109-8. Hawk was the pick of the visitors' attack taking 5-40 off 24 overs.
The Green wish to thank Classic Interiors for sponsoring the game.
