THE English Symphony Orchestra continues its programme of work with young musicians next month, with two weekend courses in Colwall.
The ESO Children's Orchestra Course is aimed at young people aged seven to 12, of a standard from Grade I to III.
The ethos of the course is that "it's fun making music" and it enables beginners to experience the joy of making music together over an intensive weekend of tuition including singing, rhythmic exercises and ear training. There will also be outdoor activities, games and quizzes.
The ESO Percussion Ensemble is open to all ages and no grades are required. The invitation is open to young people interested in taking part in a percussion workshop, and will play in a dynamic ensemble under the leadership of Cathy Newell.
Although the course will run alongside the Children's Orchestra course, it is principally a separate ensemble.
Both courses are on Saturday June 2 and Sunday June 3, from 10am to 4pm, at the Downs School, Colwall.
The fee for the whole weekend is £30 per student, or £15 for one day. Registration is at 9.30am on the Saturday. For more information, call Kate Hodson on 01684 560696.
