I AM against hunting. But I do feel that during the foot-and-mouth crisis, Messrs Brierley and Pinney have behaved with great respect.
Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the vegetarians.
Have they ever thought what the countryside would be like if we all turned vegetarian? Pigs would become obsolete because I cannot think of any other use than for meat.
I doubt it would be economically viable to keep sheep just for wool. And dairy cows' calves would have to be put down at birth.
The job losses caused by a hunting ban would be infinitesimal compared to the loss of the meat trade.
