THE City Focus column of April 26 by the city centre manager was a bit of an eye-opener.
Georgina Smith gave the park-and-ride system the thumbs-up, apparently on the favourable comments that she heard from the commuters who used the system.
Speaking on behalf of the city centre forum, she was also in favour of a further four park-and-ride sites around the edges of Worcester City.
I seem to remember about five years ago, the city council - at a considerable cost to the ratepayers - scrapped the then new Lowesmoor one-way system and bus lane because a handful of shopkeepers protested against the system.
In contrast, the council ignored large vociferous objections by residents who were against the park-and-ride project, and went ahead and built the car park.
As our local election approaches, I hope the city people will bear it in mind when their ward councillors come and knock on their door.
MR L SPITERI,
Worcester.
