ON Sunday, February 4, some two hundred dog owners and their pets rallied at County Hall to show just how afraid they were of the effect the Bill to ban hunting with dogs would have on themselves and their pets.
The penalties, should any dog be seen chasing a rabbit or fox were to say the least harsh, a possible fine of £5,000 or six months in jail, plus the thought of having their dog put down, placed many in fear of letting a family pet off the lead.
At the demonstration, a letter was read out and then sent to Mike Foster MP. It asked him to explain why he was supporting a Bill that would so badly affect many of his constituents, who have no interest in hunting but might suffer if it became law. Unfortunately, Mike Foster did not reply to the letter.
Now that the world-famous Kennel Club has made crystal clear its total opposition to such anti-dog legislation, can Mr Foster explain why he continued to support a Bill that was clearly going to have a an adverse affect on so many innocent dogs and their owners?
