CALLOW End Harriers have just completed a remarkable inaugural season finishing in a creditable seventh position and picking up two awards at the Sterling Classic Malvern Football League's annual general meeting recently.
They were voted 'Most Sporting Team of the Season' by the management committee and to much acclaim manager Scott Kendrick received the Albert Lyndon Trophy for League chairman Norman Simmons.
There was more for Scott Kendrick as he also received the Reg Box Trophy for 'Manager of the Year', an award voted for by the teams themselves.
Scott was overjoyed at this success. Although he has played for the team occasionally, his interest is in the management side of the game. He is encouraged to know that the oldest player is only 19 years old and the majority of those who turn out are 17.
"It is about community spirit," said Scott after the meeting, "I was involved with another Callow End Harriers a few seasons ago but that is now called something else, so there was no team bearing the name of the village.
"About half of the players come from Callow End and after this season, I want us to go on and win things."
