RANGERS last Worcester League Saturday Premier Division fixture of the season resulted in a heavy home defeat, similar to the first league fixture of the season when they lost 4-0 against Archdales.

MALVERN RANGERS 1,

KEMPSEY UNITED 5

Certainly the last two weeks against champions Littleton and this week against contenders for the runners up position, Kempsey, (arguably the best two sides in the league) have proved very much an anti-climax with their own prospects of being runners up being totally shattered and they now have to settle for fourth position.

In neither game did the players do themselves real justice but take nothing away from Kempsey, they were comfortably the better side on the day.

After a number of early corners Kempsey took the lead after 12 minutes when half hearted challenges on the edge of the box allowed Nathan Owens to waltz through to score. Shortly afterwards Rob Perrins shot over the crossbar at the other end. Kempsey increased their advantage after 17 minutes when Dean Roberts found himself unopposed at the far post to score comfortably. One minute before the interval Owens scored again for Kempsey with a good run down the left before scoring in off the far post.

In the opening 16 minutes of the second half, Rangers had two players arguably harshly sent off in separate incidents to make Rangers' task almost impossible, this coupled with the early second half departure of Sean Lynch with a bad ankle injury. After 21 minutes Dean Roberts lobbed keeper Ian Hill after the keeper's attempted clearance struck Clive Churchill and fell conveniently into the path of Roberts. Three minutes later Rangers scored a consolation goal when Marc Kitchener was pulled down in the box and Rob Perrins scored comfortably from the resultant spot kick. In the final minutes Roberts completed his hat trick and Kempsey's nap hand when Steve Rawlings gave the ball away to Roberts who went on to score unopposed.

Rangers' man of the match was Brendon Watson.

Players to please note that a meeting is scheduled to take place at the Three Horseshoes on Tuesday, May 29, 8pm.
