POWICK finished the season with a good win over Division Two league leaders Coppertops on Sunday.
POWICK 3, COPPERTOPS 2
Powick went on the attack from the start and took the lead in the 25th minute when Nick Price lobbed the keeper from 20 yards.
They continued to pressure the Coppertops defence and ten minutes later a brilliant solo run by Dave Jones from inside his own half set Bryan Craven free to provide a superb finish when one-on-one with the keeper.
Just two minutes later Dave Jones got on the score sheet with an excellent free kick from 20 yards to give Powick a 3-0 lead at half time.
The second half saw Powick continue to attack but a combination of poor finishing and good goal keeping prevented them from scoring.
With 15 minutes remaining Coppertops pulled a goal back when a blistering shot was well saved by Barry Millar, but he couldn't hold it and Patrick Verman was on hand with the follow up to place the ball in the back of the net.
Coppertops began putting some good moves together. With five minutes remaining they reduced the deficit again when Tim Davies beat two defenders before finding the back of the net.
This provided a nervous last five minutes for Powick, but they managed to hang on to take the points.
Man of the match was Dave Jones.
