WHEN you spend your £1 on a line of Lottery numbers tonight, and again when you dream of what you'll do with the millions it might generate, it might be worth pausing.
Heaven knows, there are thousands of charities which have benefited from the good causes fund in recent years.
But we're still sensitive to those charities which find themselves outside the Lottery's bounds.
Our thoughts turn to one such charity, Acorns Children's Hospice, today.
That's because, in the middle of next week, some well-known names in Worcester business and leisure circles will come together to raise funds for the organisation.
The way they'll do it is entirely in keeping with the spirit of a place which will become an increasing part of life in the Faithful City as its Worcester project moves gradually towards fruition.
"Acorns wants to target a younger age group for fund-raising, and this is a good way of doing it," says Lisa Porter, who's helping to promote Fashion Mania at Tramps.
"It's not going to be a fashion show where you just sit and watch. We want people to participate by dancing."
Anyone who's found a need of Acorns' special brand of care in Selly Oak will tell you it's a place that concentrates on making the most of a child's lifespan. It's about fun. It's vibrant, even if dark shadows do loom, occasionally and inevitably.
On the basis that Worcester's population of 95,000 souls must be buying at least 25,000 dream tickets a week, we'd say the potential is there to make the Worcester appeal successful and continuing.
If the idea of Tramps fashion fund-raiser doesn't blow your socks off, why not sacrifice a £1's worth of dream-time tonight - or before next week's draw - and invest it in something which, in a few years time, will be a tangible and lasting reminder of your money's power?
