A NUMBER of correspondents criticise New Labour, yet strangely never compile a list of the last Conservative government's achievements.
For example, they slashed the top rate of Income Tax. How did they fund the loss of revenue? Easy - by abolishing free school milk and hot school meals.
They introduced the Poll Tax, resulting in four adults in a small terraced property paying three times as much as one person in a property the size of Buckingham Palace.
Then, of course, there was the unwavering Tory obsession to dismantle the National Health Service.
I suspect some people support the Conservatives simply because they believe it is below their status to do otherwise.
Well, what price status if the Tories are returned to power and interest rates treble to 15 per cent as they were during their last term of office?
