A NEW venture to help find work for disabled people has been launched in Stourport.

The Letwork Consortium has been set up by a number of national and regional agencies in a bid to improve the chances of finding work for those with disabilities.

Members of the consortium, which includes the Employment Service, Mencap, Remploy, Beacon Employment, County Enterprises and the Worcestershire Community and Mental Health NHS Trust, share information relating to vacancies for people with disabilities across the county.

A database of 250 employers countywide is available to help the agencies match their client's particular skills and abilities to specific jobs.

Letwork, based at the town's Riverside Business Centre in Worcester Road, is seeking to add to the number of employers it can call on and wants as diverse a range of companies as possible, both large and small, in manufacturing and service industries from across Worcestershire.

Letwork employment co-ordinator Tony Nicholl said: "Employers can benefit from the scheme in a number of ways. They can tap into a larger pool of labour at no cost and get free advice from disability employment professionals.

"A range of support packages from job coaching to financial assistance may be available to participating employers, so people can help their business while helping a disabled person."
