YOUNGSTERS making the transition from school to college, training or employment will be able to obtain top advice from experts at a county centre.
More than 50 16-year-olds will be offered careers advice from youth workers as part of the Worcestershire County Council-run project at Upton Warren Outdoor Education Centre, near Bromsgrove.
Canoeing, rafting and wind-surfing are just a few of the activities on offer during a two-day residential course which is being organised next week.
It is aimed at helping to develop team building, personal and social skills.
The course follows on from a successful pilot scheme held last month, and a week-long course is being planned for later in the year, at the Llanrug Outdoor Education Centre in Snowdonia, North Wales.
It has been supported by the New Opportunities Fund, which allocated £54,000 to the project.
Worcestershire County Council's principal youth officer Bridgette Cooper said it was an indication of how the education service can support an often difficult transition.
"It builds on the work already being done in the Youth Service and we anticipate that its success will lead to more opportunities," she said.
The project has been provided by a £54,000 grant from the New Opportunities Fund.
