A CAMPAIGN to raise vital funds for the Primrose Hospice will involve people looking mellow in yellow, writes Melina Cannon.

Wear Yellow Week begins on Monday, June 18, and throughout the week pupils at town schools will pay a donation to swap their uniforms for something yellow.

Primrose Hospice shops will be dressing their front windows in yellow and it is also hoped other retailers can be persuaded to join in.

There are also a range of events planned, such as 'a fantastic evening of fun' in the grounds of the hospice on Friday, June 22, where popular comedian Malcolm Stent will be performing alongside local band The Reflections at a Midsummer Bash, which costs £25 per head, including a summer buffet.

The following evening sees family entertainment show Summer Magic taking place at the Palace Theatre and featuring a host of entertainers including the Elite Academy of Dance and Gymnastics and The Primrose Choir.

And from Thursday, June 21, until Saturday, June 23, townspeople are invited to start their Christmas shopping early at a craft fair in Worcester Square, Kingfisher Centre.

There is also a sell-out trip to Ladies' Day at Ascot on June 21 and an invitation to stroll around the Elizabethan market at Bromsgrove market on the Saturday.

Fund-raising manager Jane Wardman said: 'Supporting Wear Yellow 2001 will make a difference to our patients and those who care for them at home or at the centre.'

Tickets for Summer Magic cost £6 or £5 from 65203.
