DROITWICH sports fans are invited to attend a meeting to discuss the creation of under 14 and under 16 year olds girls' football teams .
In partnership with Droitwich High School, Worcestershire Football Association development officers, Andy Norman and Julie Leroux, want to create a girls football club in Droitwich so local girls can play football outside of school curriculum hours.
The meeting will be held in the lecture theatre at Droitwich High School at 7pm on Tuesday June 12.
Andy Norman said: "There are many girls in Droitwich who wish to play football regularly.
Interest
"In a recent audit at Droitwich High School over 100 girls expressed an interest in playing football and there is similar interest at Witton and Westacre Middle Schools.
"The meeting is to confirm the extent of interest and to determine if there is sufficient parental or other adult help needed to create a girls' club.
"Parents and other adults can all assist in some way, with administration, coaching, management, transport, washing kit etc. We hope that in future years there will also be a Droitwich women's team."
The Worcestershire Football Association is also holding a female football festival at Pershore High School on Saturday June 23, for all girls and women interested in football.
The one-day festival opens at 10.30am with the first games starting at 11am.
The day is aimed at all girls and women, aged between and eight and 80.
In addition to the tournament there will be coaching stations to improve existing and try out new skills.
Stalls selling everything from shin pads to first aid kits will be there, along with refreshment kiosks.
Norman said: "Please speak to your friends, get together with your work colleagues or school friends and enter a team.
"It will be a great day so come and be part of it whether in a team or as an individual."
