FIVE super-fit women from Worcestershire One on One- SIS clubs have beaten off the challenge of hundreds of women from all over the country to seal their place as Britain's fittest team.
Michelle Parsons (35), Jane Fisher (33), Alex Robinson (33), Jacqui Macquisten (35) and Nicola Gibson (35) finished first in the women's team event in the Life Fitness ultra-Fit X- Training Challenge.
They beat hundreds of women nationwide who tried to qualify for the finals of the event.
The national challenge took place at Stratford-upon-Avon Leisure Centre when men, women and teams from gymnasiums and clubs throughout Britain tackled one of sport's toughest challenges.
The team received their prizes from five members of Britain's Olympic gold medal winning rowing eight, Steve Trapmore, Simon Dennis, Luca Grobor, Louis Attrill and Ben Hunt-Davies, who also competed in the men's team event as the Life Fitness Pieces of Eight" squad.
The competition included individual events for men and women, with an open category and a masters event for the over 39s.
Thousands of sports and fitness enthusiasts across the country submitted times for the gruelling challenge in the hope of making the grand finals and winning one of the £20,000 worth of prizes up for the grabs.
The race was tough, with athletes racing individually or in a relay format in the team event through ten gym challenges in the fastest possible time.
The race started with a 1.5 kilometre cycle ride, followed by a 500-metre sprint on the Concept 2 rowing machine.
Competitors then raced through 50 reps of lateral pull-downs, 60 hip flexor repetitions and then press ups (50 for men, 30 for women).
After that, it was 100 step-ups (with weights) 60 'ab' crunches, 40 reps on the shoulder press and then an 800 metre uphill dash on the treadmill.
The final challenge was a sprint through 40 reps on the bench press.
