MOST workers in Bromsgrove are female, a new survey by a leading union has revealed.
Almost 55 per cent of the town's workforce are women according to a report by the General Municipal Boilermakers' (GMB) union.
Almost 52 per cent of workers in Worcester are women and only the mid-Worcestershire ar-ea bucked the trend.
That part of the county showed just 45.3 per cent of workers being female.
The figures revealed that female workers outstripped their male counterparts by almost three to two in many areas of the West Midlands.
The union claims by fighting for equal pay and family-friendly policies like child care support and back to work schemes, the economy gained by having more women in work.
A GMB spokesman said: "In many areas we now see women making up the highest percentage of the workforce".
The spokesman added: "Initiatives like the Working Families Tax Credit and supported child care ensure woman can go to, continue in, or return to work."
