ABBEY senior professional Rob Davies is heading to Blackpool in the final of the Maxfli PGA Assistants' Championship after a successful round in the Stratford qualifying competition.
Davies beat Redditch's Neil Turley on the way to a one over par 71 which earned him a joint 11th place finish in the Midlands heat.
The final is at St Annes Old from Tuesday September 11 to Thursday 13 where Davies takes on 16 other national finalists.
Davies is enjoying a purple patch after finishing second by a shot in the Worcestershire Pro-Am at Malvern and third in the Worcestershire Professionals' 36 Hole Championship at Evesham.
But the Abbey pro missed out on a trip to Portugal in the Lombard Trophy after failing to qualify in the regional heat at Kedlestone Park along with amateur Ken Jenkins.
Davies holed five birdies in the first 12 holes with Jenkins adding three to leave the pair six under with four holes to play.
But with the Algarve beckoning the pair had a couple of bad breaks and dropped shots to fall out of the reckoning with the winner finishing seven under.
