I CANNOT believe Droitwich Spa Town Council is not issuing our pensioners with a free town bus pass.
As an ex-chairman of the finance committee, I am aware of the difficult decisions that have to be made, but I'm sure if pensioners had been asked, they would have agreed to pay a small charge for the pass.
In the past, nearly 600 people have benefited. Many of those will not now be able to afford to come into town as often. This will have a serious effect on shops and businesses - many are already struggling.
I am concerned also that elderly people will be isolated on the estates. Their visits to the shops, library and post office were part of their social life. To add further misery to our pensioners, Midland Red West bus company is increasing fares.
A very bleak outlook for everyone.
