ALVECHURCH looked as though they were playing their first game of the season rather than their last in a three-nil win over neighbours Feckenham on Saturday, writes Matt Smith.
And despite being Church's 16th game in 26 days the hosts started brightly using the pace of striker Michael Campbell and Dean Meyrick to good effect.
Campbell should have scored as early as the second minute after breaking clear of the Millers rearguard after a long ball over the top but he pulled it wide.
Meyrick broke the deadlock with a great strike with his left foot from outside the area on the half-hour leaving the Millers with an uphill struggle.
More efforts coming in from Brett Skinner on the left wing and Dean Meyrick kept the away team pinned in their own half for most of the first half.
Church's second-half sub Rob Powell saw a definite change in the home team.
A stunning 65-minute free kick from 30 yards from Powell put the tie out of the Millers reach.
Church's third came after 75 minutes, Brett Skinner took advantage of a mix up in the Feckenham defence and claimed his first of the match.
