To the world at large Redditch and needles are as inseparable as Stratford and Shakespeare.
Perhaps our school books are responsible for this popular misconception of Redditch as a one-trade town and if so, the compilers should have been invited to see the exhibition of local industrial products now staged in the Drill Hall, Redditch.
They would probably be amazed - as indeed many local people have been - at the remarkable diversity of Redditch industry.
The exhibition which opened on Monday is sponsored by The Redditch Society as part of the town's Festival of Britain celebrations.
It will remain open on week days until Saturday next, June 9.
