FARMERS suffering depression or anxiety because of the foot and mouth crisis are being offered free help thanks to a Lickey-based psychologist.
Consultant psychologist Dr Giles Bellamy has offered his skills free of charge to farmers in the Bromsgrove area who have been affected by the disease .
Dr Bellamy, who opened his Old Birmingham Road consulting rooms in January, said stress management techniques could help farmers deal with the consequences of the disease.
The consulting rooms, called Tranquil House, offer a venue for several psychological practitioners mainly dealing with common mental problems such as depression, anxiety and stress.
Dr Bellamy first made his offer via the National Farmers Union as soon as the disease broke out, but hopes more farmers might benefit from hearing about it.
"People may be reluctant to admit they are having difficulties and need help, but they should not suffer in silence," he said.
He added: "What we want to do is provide support for farmers whose business is suffering, who are in despair and don't know where to turn.
Anyone in the farming industry who feels they could benefit from the sessions can call Tranquil House on (0121) 445 4064.
