DROITWICH Spa First XI achieved a comfortable victory in Sunday's friendly at Bridgnorth.

In a 40-over game, Droitwich lost opener Stuart Bryan to the very first ball of the game.

However, a brisk partnership developed bet-ween Paul Bryan and Ian Duggan, Duggan batting well for a breezy 35.

Several good partnerships developed betw-een Bryan and Goddard, then Bryan and Small.

Goddard batted fluently for 37 and the Spa innings closed on 208-6, Paul Bryan undefeated on a solid 77 not out.

With Goddard achieving prodigious swing, Bridgnorth lost several early wickets and never recovered.

Mike Gunston bowled his now customary miserly spell of offspin and the Bridgnorth reply faltered to a disappointing 115 all out, with no batsman attempting to grab the game by the scruff of the neck. Youngster Neil Davies bowled well at the end, taking the final three wickets.

Next week sees the start of the Berry and Co Sunday League, where Droitwich will play in the Premier Division.

l Droitwich lost by 15 runs to Worcester Nomads in Worcestershire County League Division One on Saturday.
