THE National Trust has carpeted the competition after teaming up with Brintons to produce a range of new patterns.
Designs have been inspired by Trust-run Osterley Park, Petworth House and Uppark with the Kidderminster company eager to target period home owners.
"The inspiration for the Uppark design is from a motif of a heart-shaped scroll, carved on an 18th Century shutter in the Saloon at Uppark," said a Brintons spokesman.
"Petworth is based on one of three surviving carpets at the house, manufactured in 1768, while the Osterley design was inspired by the drawing room ceiling, which dates back to 1767".
The designs are expected to retail at £50 per square metre.
