PROFESSOR and head of music at Cardiff University, Robin Stowell will be solo violinist with the Worcester Philharmonic Orchestra in concert at Pershore Abbey on June 2.
He is to perform Beethoven's Violin Concerto, is one of two Beethoven works the orchestra will be performing, the second being Symphony No 5 in C. The concert (7.30pm) will open with Mozart's Marriage of Figaro Overture.
The evening will include the orchestra's highly successful season under its conductor Neil Aston, and the Worcester Philharmonic is now looking to recruit new string for the next season of four concerts in the abbey.
Players need have no previous experience of orchestral playing and all standards will be considered.
The orchestra meets for Wednesday rehearsals between 7.30pm and 9.30pm at St George's Hall, Worcester, and anyone interested should ring 01905 356482.
