County Council has been heavily involved in negotiations about a Worcester Parkway railway station.
Rail operators such as Central Trains and Virgin Rail are involved in talks about the project, which is still in its fledging stages.
At the moment the council is talking about a cost of £10m to pay for a four-platform station at Norton, where lines to London, Bristol and Birmingham meet. A landowner in Norton has indicated he is ready to sell.
The council would ask for financial assistance from the Strategic Rail Authority. A bid for funds could be launched in the next couple of months, once the business case is agreed.
Should the station become a reality, it would probably feature some retail outlets.
However, it is unlikely the county council or Wychavon District Council would be prepared to see the station emerge as the nucleus of a business park.
