STOURPORT High School sixth-former Becci Lewis converted her chance to take a place in the England U-18 rugby squad.
The 18-year-old Worcester Rugby Club player captains the West Midlands team and was selected after trials at Lichfield Rugby Club.
Lewis, who plays at hooker, recently attended a youth camp for three days at Loughborough University where she was lectured in nutrition and training.
Top England coaches were on hand to develop her skills.
School PE head David Knott said: "We're really pleased. Over the last few years, a number of girls have got near the England team but not quite made it.
"With rugby, we normally hold taster sessions at the school to get them interested.
"We've got good links with Stourport Rugby Club and they can take a lot of credit as they get the best out of them."
Lewis hopes to eventually make the full England squad, as well as forging a career in physiotherapy or sports science.
