DAVID Lock unveiled a "cunning plan" to woo voters in Kidderminster in the guise of television's Baldrick. Tony Robinson gives the thumbs up to David Lock's election quest.
Blackadder's hapless dogsbody - alias actor Tony Robinson - came to the town to back the Labour candidate.
Mr Lock defeated Tory MP Anthony Coombs, dubbed "Slackadder" by the national media after cocking up a Commons count, at the last election.
And he seemed confident of a repeat showing as the television star, who presents archaeological show Time Team, signed autographs and posed for pictures with shoppers.
As the crowds grew, long-time Labour supporter Mr Robinson explained his support for the party, why a Labour government was good for the country and why a Labour MP was the best option for Wyre Forest.
And unlike Baldrick, who famously stood for election in a rotten borough in the hit TV show, he gave the thumbs-up to democracy.
He said: "Labour has delivered new hope and new opportunities for thousands of people.
"David Lock has been a first class MP and he has my full backing to continue speaking up for this area in London."
