PLANS to build 162 homes on a popular Kidderminster open space were due to be considered by the district council's overview and scrutiny committee yesterday.
The controversial scheme by Prowting Homes to build on the current Kidderminster College site was given the go-ahead by district council planners on May 17.
Angry residents say the proposals will rob them of the only open space in the area, destroy wildlife habitats and create traffic chaos.
The college is due to move to a new site in Market Street by September 2002 and has agreed a deal with the firm to sell the land.
