BROADWAY parish councillors voted against a grant for the village baby and toddler group at a meeting last week.
Peek-a-Boo applied to Wychavon District Council for cash to pay for bean bags, cushions and books.
In accordance with the rules the application needed the endorsement of the local district councillor and the parish council before consideration.
But at a parish council meeting last Thursday members voted seven to three not to endorse the application.
Chairman Peter Riley said: "The play group's equipment already takes up half of the storage under the stage."
Grants officer for Wychavon, Tim Deakin said that the loss of one endorsement would not necessarily stop the playgroup receiving a grant. District councillor, David Folkes supported it.
Playgroup leader, Sue Witts declined to comment.
