THE Vale Golf and Country Club made use of the recent break in the weather to host a successful Seniors Open.
A field of 156 golfers from 30 visiting clubs took part in the Senior Section annual open. Mark Heath and his greenkeeping staff had worked wonders getting the course to such an excellent standard.
The course played quite long and provided a challenge to most players.
However, those in the frame came in with very acceptable scores and the Two's Sweep produced only six winners.
The main prizewinners were: Brian Gowland (Vale) 41 points, Alan Donaghue (Vale) and (Kings Norton) 40, Ken Crisp (Hagley) 39, Chris Richards (Vale) 39, Colin Bristow (Vale) 38, Eric Salter (Vale) 38.
The veterans prize for those over 70 years on the day were Nigel Gracey (Royal Jersey) 40 points, Cliff Hughes (Vale) 36, and David Jones (Harbourn) 35.
