Charles Talbot gave a talk entitled The Talbot Family - 'Prest d'Accomplir', which showed the extent to which his family has served the town.
Having farmed at Wolverley from 1600 until 1800, the Talbots moved to Kidderminster and began manufacturing cloth.
Non-conformists, they were instrumental in creating New Meeting Church and featured prominently in the town's public life.
Charles Talbot's father was mayor, borough councillor and alderman. Charles was mayor in 1965 and initiated the twinning with Husum.
He established Bromsgrove Street Youth Centre and is working to ensure a National Carpet Museum is set up in Kidderminster.
The family law practice was instituted in 1828 and Charles's son is the latest family member to enter the firm.
The next meeting, on Wednesday will comprise a tour of Drakelow Tunnels - meet at 7.30pm at the entrance (names in advance to Nick Hughes).
